that Hollywood sign held such an aspirational allure to me. 23 years later, it still captivates me. We are the city of polar opposites, a city of extremes. Filled with natives, and people who were too cool for their hometown. This city will cut your teeth, it has guts, and I love that. This is our home.
h city of Angels, city of dreams. I often tell the story of my high-school friends saying that I "was so LA" before I had ever visited here. Something about
I begin this journal as a love letter to Los Angeles. Amidst the extraordinary circumstances of today's wildfires, I find solace in being able to share information on how to help. I am able do this by expressing my love and gratitude for this city. Los Angeles has given me my identity, shaped my life, and continues to be a wellspring of inspiration for my work as a designer.
We used to take a journal out the field to write our 'knowledge' back in my Marine Corps days, so I see this as quite a familiar place for me to begin, with Field Notes.
